Stump grinding and removal is the process of removing or grinding down tree stumps to improve the safety, health, and aesthetics of the surrounding area.
At Lemur Tree Care when we remove a tree, we usually leave the stump as close to the ground as possible. Depending upon the needs of the homeowner, we can offer additional stump grinding or removal services that best suit the needs of the future use of the area the tree once occupied.
If you are looking to plant a new tree over the old stump, we would perform a deep grind of about 12” – 14” which provides ample space for the new tree roots to form. If you are looking to plant grass we can perform what is called a surface grind of 5” – 8” below the grade. For new construction we would recommend a stump removal as this provides the best foundation to build off of. Prior to beginning any stump grinding or removal service, we perform 811 calls so that all underground utilities can be marked. Safety is our number one priority at Lemur Tree Care.
Each level of grinding or removal has varying levels of debris that may need to be removed depending on your future plans for the property. A large stump typically produces a small truckload of wood fillings. These grindings will eventually settle and decay overtime, but if you are looking to plant immediately, we work with local landscapers like JC Landscapes to provide the additional care for your property aesthetics.
